VidSys customers have deployed VidSys solutions to accomplish their important responsibilities of protecting people, assets and information. They leverage the power of VidSys software applications and the underlying VidSys Open PSIM Platform to successfully manage a variety of complex, mission-critical situations.

Traffic Management System

CHALLENGE: Construction of a Joint Traffic Operations Center (JTOC) integrating an Intelligent Transportation System with existing and new video surveillance technology – including analog and digital video. Additional integration of various other security and data systems into the JTOC infrastructure.

SOLUTION: VidSys installed the VidShield™ video management application as the software foundation of the JTOC. In addition to integrating new and legacy camera systems, VidShield also was used to integrate other systems including loop detection sensors and an Automatic Traffic Management System.  In the resulting implementation, sensors and E511 calls alert operators to incidents which can be quickly verified and investigated using the video surveillance systems.

RESULT: Much more efficient management of a large volume of roadway incidents. Of the 2400 incidents per day, 400 result in follow-up inspections and 50 are found to be actionable events.

Public Safety Software

Challenge: Integration of thousands of widely deployed analog and digital cameras owned by several different agencies including Police, Fire, Transportation, Parks, Schools, Housing, Transit Authority, Streets and Sanitation, Water, Snow Command, City Hall and regional airports.

Solution: VidSys installed the VidShield video management system as the baseline operating environment. In addition to integrating new and legacy cameras, the VidShield solution also integrated sensors and analytics including those designed for gunshot detection. In the completed system, analytics now alert operators to key events, enabling more effective monitoring of more cameras covering a larger footprint of the city without the need for increased manpower.

Result: VidShield enables operators to view and control any of the video feeds seamlessly from a single workstation, regardless of the underlying technology or agency ownership. The client has announced at least one narcotics arrest as a direct result of the video surveillance network and reports that 911 calls are down as much as 76% in areas where the cameras are installed and monitored.

Military Video Security System

Challenge: Cooperation among 8 U.S Navy Regions into a Central Dispatch Center to manage overall facility security. Installed equipment included analog and digital video cameras.  The project required new interfaces to cameras, DVR, switches, and encoder/decoders from multiple manufacturers.

Solution: The VidShield video management application was deployed to manage the Central Dispatch Center video surveillance network. New interfaces to additional equipment were rapidly implemented and deployed by virtue of the underlying VidSys Open PSIM Platform. 

Result: The Central Dispatch Center can now coordinate 911 calls for all bases – resulting in a more efficient response to calls and improved security. Decentralized incident response has been replaced by coordinated management and shared situational awareness across multiple organizations.
