ALEXANDRIA, VA and MARLBOROUGH, MA ─ September 14, 2006 ─ VidSys, the leading operations center software company for safety,
security and transportation organizations, today announced the appointment of
a new
CEO
, Chuck Teubner. The company also announced the appointment of Betsy Atkins to its Board
of Directors. In addition,
Michael Helfrich
, an entrepreneur in residence
with IDG Ventures, will serve as vice president of Corporate Development for
VidSys.
“We
are very excited to bring world-class executives into the company,”

addition of Chuck, Michael and Betsy, the company is well-positioned to
execute on a meaningful market opportunity and continue its rapid
growth.”
With more than 30 years of

and information technology. Teubner
brings significant experience in the security and government market sectors to
VidSys, and will leverage that experience to take VidSys a step further into
this rapidly developing market. Teubner
replaces Michael Mancuso, who served as president and CEO for VidSys where he
successfully brought VidSys to market, raised initial funding, and established
the operational team. Mancuso
will remain on VidSys’ Board of Directors.
“My
experience in the security and government markets has enabled me to see
first-hand the rising demand for technology that addresses the
convergence of IT and physical security,” said Teubner. “I look
forward to executing the VidSys vision of a single console or dashboard
for managing IT and physical security. By being first–to-market in
this converged space, VidSys is well-positioned to meet the growing
demand.”
Prior to
joining VidSys, Teubner was chairman and CEO of Vienna, VA-based e-Security,
where he guided the company through its sale to Novell. In
less than two years, Teubner and his team moved the company’s premier
software to technology leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for the
SEM
space; and
completed major contracts with leading healthcare organizations, major defense
companies, and large technology companies.
Previously,
Teubner was president and
COO
of Boston-based
Groove Networks, which was sold to Microsoft. In addition, Teubner
served as the
COO
of Annapolis, MD-based USinternetworking, the
first ASP that achieved a $4 billion market cap at the height of the
technology bubble in 2000, and as senior vice president of North American
sales for Sybase driving revenues to $550 million in 1995.
Betsy Atkins Joins Board
With
the addition of Betsy Atkins to the Board of Directors, VidSys brings
her proven expertise to the company’s advance into the convergence
market. Since 1994, Atkins has been the chief executive officer of
Baja Ventures, an independent venture capital firm focused on the
technology and life sciences industry. From 1991 to 1993, she served as
chairman and chief executive officer of NCI
, Inc., a
functional food/nutraceutical company. Prior
to Baja Ventures, Atkins was a co-founder of Ascend Communications, Inc. and
a member of its Board of Directors, and served as its worldwide sales,
marketing and international executive vice president prior to its acquisition
by Lucent Technologies in 1999. Atkins
serves on the Board of RAI, Polycom, Inc. and SunPower Corporation, as well as
a number of private companies. She also was a Presidential- appointee to the
Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation advisory committee and is a
Governor-appointed member of the Florida International University Board of
Trustees.
“I
look forward to this significant opportunity to offer my expertise as
VidSys further strengthens its market position,” said Atkins. “The
deluge of data and new technologies continues to increase for
operations centers, and VidSys offers one of the premier technologies
in the space that can both manage massive amounts of information and
tie together all of these disparate technologies.”
