VidSys Software Integrated Into Cisco Platform

VIDSYS SOFTWARE INTEGRATED INTO CISCO'S OPEN PLATFORM FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY

Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security Brings Together Technology Leaders for Improved Security and Safety in Emergency Response

VIENNA, Va. ─ April 1, 2008 ─ VidSys, the leading provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software for Situation Management, today announced that its software has been selected as part of the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security.  Based on a "net-centric" approach to physical security information management (PSIM), the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security will enable more effective real time investigation and handling of security and surveillance events.   This news builds on the already close working relationship between Cisco and its Cisco Technology Developer Partner - VidSys.

"Modern emergency response requires a coordinated effort among experts for real time situation assessment, dispatch and first response.  The challenge for most organizations is integrating a variety of technologies and systems to provide security personnel with a comprehensive view of a situation as well as all the appropriate information and tools needed to quickly reach resolution. " explained VidSys senior vice president David Fowler.  "The Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security brings together technologies from industry leading vendors to provide comprehensive PSIM integration, and VidSys is pleased to be selected to provide the Common Operating Picture that will serve as the system's primary interface."

The new platform brings together Cisco's Unified Communications, physical security, decision support, digital media service and converged infrastructure with an ecosystem including sensor integration, video analytics, desktop notification, a Geographic Information System (GIS) framework, policy and reporting along with physical access control.   As a coordinated whole, this ecosystem will provide emergency notification, early warning, situation management and employee accountability on an open platform that provides broad interoperability.

"We are pleased to be working with VidSys as part of our go-to-market team for the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security," said Bruce Klein, Cisco's federal vice president. "Our strategy is to pull together an ‘ecosystem' of the leading companies with expertise in protecting citizens, employees and critical assets to provide the most comprehensive solution for facilitating collaboration for government agencies. VidSys delivers a critical piece of our overall technology platform."

"The net-centricity of this PSIM ecosystem provides several important benefits including coordination and collaboration between private enterprises and public agencies, lower costs of operation, and the broadest possible interoperability with current systems and devices," said Gavin Long, vice president of Fairfax Partners.  "With the network as the platform, the Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security simultaneously widens the scope of information and communication paths available to the response team, while assuring that the right information gets to the right people as quickly as possible."

The Cisco Open Platform for Safety and Security is designed to deliver a complete, pre-integrated and pre-configured system to address the full range of new capabilities made possible by IP networking of security and surveillance equipment.   VidSys, by providing the common operating picture for this system, has proven that its software can integrate existing infrastructure to extend technology investments, as well as serve as the interface engine for the most advanced systems available.  "Current VidSys customers could very well use this as a template upgrade path as budget becomes available for newer IP-based security technology," added Fowler.
