VIDSYS RELEASES NEW VERSION OF ITS PSIM SOFTWARE FOR SITUATION MANAGEMENT AND AWARENESS

New Features and Enhancements Leverage Existing Investments and Further Reduce Operational Costs and Security Risks

Vienna, Va. - March 9, 2009 ─ VidSys, the leading provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software that allows organizations to resolve business and security situations in real time, today announced the latest release of its PSIM software, including its RiskShield and VidShield applications.  The release addresses challenges facing organizations deploying large scale global security systems that integrate multiple security technologies from numerous vendors and that require high reliability, scalability and ease of deployment.  Its new features enable organizations to lower security and business risks while reducing operational expenses by leveraging their existing physical security assets.

"With the economic downturn, organizations are redirecting their spending on security to improve situation response time by deploying a common operating picture that leverages existing legacy equipment while also allowing them to integrate  new technologies," said Dilip Sarangan, analyst, Frost & Sullivan.  "VidSys continues to broaden its PSIM solution so that any business, municipality or agency can easily deploy large scale global security systems that lower costs and reduce risk at the same time."

This new release builds upon an organization's requirements to more effectively manage situations across a building, campus, or multiple sites anywhere in the world.  It also continues to expand the list of security devices and systems supported to over 100 - the broadest in the industry.  The key themes of the release are global deployments, convergence and lower cost, higher security.

Global Deployments
In today's environment, global corporations and multi-agency public sector organizations are faced with increasing requirements for managing security on highly reliable and large scale global networks.  At the same time, these organizations must reduce costs and increase security.  To assure non-stop service across worldwide operations, the release offers fault tolerant operation for high reliability.   In addition, VidSys' web-based design provides access from any PC web browser on the organization's network providing greater scalability for global security and safety management.  It also extends distribution of real-time situation information to remote and mobile security professionals on both stationary PCs and mobile devices.  The results are increased security and faster more effective decision making in real-time.

Convergence
In today's economic environment, organizations want to reduce costs through better management of security issues and, at the same time decrease risk.  To achieve this, organizations must leverage existing physical security assets and IT infrastructure to get more out of current investments.  In this release, VidSys bridges logical and physical security networks by leveraging LDAP directory for streamlined access control and user information - ultimately utilizing existing assets for cost effective, value-add across the organization.  Additionally, organizations are able to more easily share physical security assets across groups and, at the same time, ensure user access privileges are managed based on standard business rules to ensure the most effective and timely approach possible for situation resolution.

Lower Cost and Higher Security
The VidSys Open PSIM Platform's one-of-a-kind, flexible architecture has enabled VidSys to rapidly increase its support for a range of industry devices developed both by VidSys and its partners.  VidSys PSIM software supports over 100 different physical security devices from a variety of  vendors and can flexibly handle a range of devices including video cameras, access control, building management, gunshot detection, video analytics, notification systems,  and CBRNE sensors.   Additionally, due to the plug-and-play approach of the architecture, organizations can add access to new physical security devices quickly and seamlessly without new or custom development work.  An enhanced Rules Engine also makes it easier for organizations to quickly modify rules to adapt to global environments and evolving situations. The results are lower costs due to leverage of existing technology, and higher security from the integration of a variety of devices in to one common operating picture as well as adaptable business and situation specific rules for effective resolution.

"This release is significant in that it addresses the current challenges facing global security operation centers.  It allows organizations to scale their security operations globally, while providing easier and faster ways to resolve situations regardless of location, and reduces operational costs by providing seamless integration with their existing environment," said David Fowler, senior vice president marketing and product development, VidSys.  "Our goal is to help organizations create integrated Global Physical Security systems with ‘Virtual Situation Management'."

"It is a pleasure to work with a PSIM solution that can easily plug in to existing global solutions and immediately lower costs for our customers," said John Convy, technology alliance manager, Cisco Physical Security.  "Additionally, the extensive support for physical security devices makes it appealing to our customers as different groups within their organization often have disparate devices they want to join together for more effective situation management."
