- VidSys, the leading operations center software company for security,
safety, military and transportation organizations, announced today that
James Chong, the company’s vice president and chief technology officer,
is presenting at the International Security Conference (ISC) East
taking place October 24 and 25 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in
New York City. Chong’s presentation, entitled “Migration from Passive
Analog to Intelligent Hybrid Surveillance Networks,” will take place on
Tuesday, October 24 at 10 a.m. in room 3D11.
In
his session, Chong will investigate some of the key factors related to
building the next-generation operations center and surveillance
networks using lessons learned from some of the largest command centers
currently being built or in operation in the US. The session will
cover:
- Benefits of leveraging existing infrastructure
- Importance of adapting standardization and interoperability on system scalability
- How to create large scale networks and effective Operation Center procedures
- How to create a multi-vendor environment
- How to work with a hybrid transportation layer - IP, wireless, ISDN, fiber, leased lines
- Real world examples of the some of the largest networks in Public Safety Surveillance and Intelligent Transportation
- Systems and the issues faced when these networks were deployed
- Multi-agency / department cooperation and roadmap for future capabilities and integration
“In
the real world, the installed base of equipment is not thrown away in
favor of new technology,” explains Chong. “Because of this, it is
important to explore ways to leverage existing infrastructure to
maximize budgets and migrate over time to newer technology and expanded
functionality. I look forward to sharing with other security
professionals my experiences working with some of the largest
operations centers in the country that have tackled this migration.”
